Pan Am Champ!

Day 2 of Pan Ams was for the blue and purple belts.  First to take the mat was Tyson Antillon, he got matched up with a guy with his same game.  The match was constant berimbolo and 50/50 guard, when the buzzer went off Tyson came up a little short.
Next to take the mat was last years white belt champ Kellend Brookover.  Kellend tore through his five matches battling an injury to his oblique.   In the finals Kellend secured an armbar to win the blue belt super heavy championship.   Congrats Kellend on back to back Pan Ams Gold.
Joe Gomez took on his first purple belt tournament and had a good match.  In the end he lost by an advantage.
Next Kamuela Kirk ran up the score in his first match winning 35-0.  His second was a battle that left Kamuela with the short end of the stick.
Lotus Club females represented well with both Erica Santana and Carla Esparza finishing second in their respective blue belt divisions.
On a side note from yesterday’s competition I previously reported Lotus Club had two gold medals when actually we captured three.  Johnny Moses also brought home a bronze medal.  At the end of the first day Lotus Club finished second overall in the Novice competition with only the white belt teens left.
