Two Jiu Jitsu Weekends

This is the hype video for the Dean Lister vs. Rousimar “Toquinho” Palhares Super Fight that I previously mentioned in my last blog.  This Super Fight will take place at the World Jiu Jitsu Expo II in Long Beach, CA on November 9th and 10th.  I wish I could make it out to this expo, it is a two day event that will include some big name seminars, some highly anticipated super fights, and a Grand Prix style tournament.  Here are some of the other match-ups:

Leandro Lo vs. Jake Shields- No-Gi 15 min sub only fight

Paulo Mayao vs. Jon Fitch- No-Gi 20 min sub only

Bruno Malfacine vs Jeff Glover- No-Gi

Caio Terra vs Nam Pham- No-Gi

Samuel Braga vs João Miyao- GI

Efrain Escudero VS Phillipe Nover-No-Gi

Lucas Leite vs Keenan Cornelius – No-Gi

Others to have fights include Marcus Almeida, Kron Gracie, Rafeal Lavato Jr., Roberto Cyborg ,and more.  If you are unable to make it to Long Beach like myself you can still be apart of the event by getting the livestream at

This weekend Long Beach hosts the IBJJF World No-Gi Championships.  You can watch two mats live at for a pretty reasonable price.  The black belt divisions should be very entertaining, and the lower belt divisions are sure to have some of the biggest sandbaggers in the game.  The thing about this tournament is that a 4 time college wrestler champ with  two years of Jiu Jitsu can be competing in the blue belt division.  That is a tough draw for Joe Smo that has been training at the local Fitness One for a year that was just awarded his blue belt.  Should be entertaining none the less.  Good luck to my boy Joe Go and the rest of my Lotus Club teammates!
