World Champion

This weekend the BJJ Kids World tournament took place in California.  Drewjitsu.com sponsored athletes Xavier and Christian Castillo and a group from my gym, Siege MMA/Lotus Club, were part of the action.  The first day was the GI portion of the tournament, the kids were confident and all of our competitors earned a medal.  A big Congratulations to Christian Castillo for finishing on top of the podium and winning his first World Championship.  Christian is a little beast and always a crowd favorite for his exciting matches and go getter style.

His older brother Xavier had a great run this year in Kids World that ended in the finals where he came up just a little short.  A silver medal is phenomenal at the Worlds and I couldn’t be more happy to have both these brothers rocking the Drewjitsu.com patches.

Andre Rodriquez is an orange belt that I have worked with quite a bit.  I wasn’t able to go to California but my informants told me he had an incredible match that he got caught at the end.  This kid is going to be great watch out for him in the future.

Siege MMA’s Jiu Jitsu instructor Jesus Jose has been putting in overtime with his daughter, Yesenya, getting her ready to compete.  I’m very excited and proud of Yesenya for working so hard and earning her first World Championship.  Yesenya is a very talented orange belt and showed her skills this weekend, not only winning her GI division but going out and moving up in weight to compete in NoGi, earning a silver medal.

Siege had one more World Champion in a possible Jiu Jitsu Phonon Eric Perkins.  He has trained for a short time but is truly gifted and was able to capture the gold.  I hope the tournament gives him the drive to continue and work even harder.

Shout out to the rest of the team Shea “Bizark” Kirk (bronze medal), Nadia Rascon (silver), “Big” Bryce Vancamp (silver), Joseph “City” Guiterez, Nathan Perkins, Logan Sammons, Ismael Pacheco and all the other kids from Siege for working very hard and representing well.

All the extra time and work coaches Jesus Jose, Kamuela Kirk, and Tyson Antillion put in paid off in a big way with Lotus Club capturing an overall 3rd place team trophy as we combined with Giva Santana and the rest of the Lotus Club crew.  Osss
